Sheila Sahni, MD, FACC, FSCAI is board-certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Sheila Sahni is the director of the Womans Heart Program of The Sahni Heart Center.

Dr. Sahni graduated  from Georgetown University’s School of Nursing and Health Studies in Washington DC and then continued at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine to complete her medical degree. 

After graduation, Dr. Sahni undertook an internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. She moved from the East Coast to the West Coast to complete a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). During her time at UCLA, Dr. Sahni was chief cardiology fellow. Passionate about improving cardiovascular health care delivery in the community, she chose to return home to the Garden State of New Jersey to join her father in his clinical interventional cardiology practice. 


Dr. Sahni is among the 4.5% of women in the United States who are interventional cardiologists and 13% of women cardiologists in the nation. She is the only woman cardiologist in Union County, New Jersey. She is an advocate for women in her field and is an active member of the American College of Cardiology Women in Cardiology Committee and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions Women-in-Innovations Committee. She has been chosen in the American College of Cardiology’s leadership academy as well as the Hackensack Meridian Health Executive Physician Leadership Program.

Dr. Sahni’s clinical interests include heart disease prevention, women’s heart disease, complete high-risk revascularization, radial interventions, and lipid management. Her unique approach to helping patient modify their lifestyle choices and behaviours helps reduced their overall cardiovascular risk to help prevent heart disease.

Dr. Sahni has been one of the foremost pioneers in using social media to provide information for cardiovascular disease education and patient advocacy and awareness. She is a strong public speaker and national expert amongst her professional societies.  She’s also been active on other media platforms and was recently a physician expert on TBS/TNT’s acclaimed medical series Chasing the Cure.
